MEET OUR AUTHORS:
Alina Nguyen is a student studying English Literature and Asian American Studies at California State University, Northridge. She is determined to share the importance of ethnic studies by utilizing popular culture as a way to inform and make sense of phenomenon within the Asian American community. She is also driven to share it with people who do not identify as Asian American but are interested and/or participate in different aspects of a culture that is not their own. She enjoys writing poetry, getting tattooed, collecting comic books, and listening to vinyl records.
Diana Dinh is in her second year at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) studying Asian American Studies. Currently, she is the External Vice-President of CSUN's Vietnamese Student Association (VSA). Her role as External Vice-President allows her and other External Vice-Presidents from other campuses the chance to aid the Vietnamese youth community to increase the understanding of Vietnamese Culture and its traditions. On her free time, she enjoys hiking, swimming, and venturing into new places.
Joshua Chung is a student at California State University, Northridge studying Accountancy. The weekends he spends in Koreatown reminds him of the Korean American community from being strictly homogeneous to a place filled with people of other ethnicities coming to enjoy the Korean restaurants, bars, and cafes. He likes hanging out with his friends in Koreatown, bar hopping, and going to the NRB (karaoke spot).
Thanh Hai Do is currently studying Graphic Design at California State University, Northridge. She expects to graduate in the Fall of 2016. She is interested in art and social studies. She came to the United States in 2006 and has encountered a number of difficulties as an immigrant. Due to her own experiences, she wants to learn more about the experiences of Asian American women to help her and her daughter who was born in America. She likes listening to music, gardening, traveling, and photography.
Cheng Li is studying Family and Consumer Science Education at California State University, Northridge. She wants to become a teacher in the future. She is very interested in the history of Asian Americans. She loves to dance and eat lots of dessert.
